Austin Food Tech Lab, (“AFTL”) as envisioned, is a restaurant + food technology focused business accelerator designed to help “incubated” start-ups develop and market emerging B2B and B2C technologies for the massive global food and foodservice marketplace. We will provide mentoring, business training, capital, access to investors, seminars, meet-ups, webinars, a ready-made network of contacts, an array of business support services designed to improve our members’ likelihood of success and to help them as they wind along the very difficult start-up path. The Lab will include a collaborative co-working office space, innovation pods, training rooms, several conference rooms and a professional test kitchen and perhaps even a micro-restaurant.
As the multi-trillion dollar global foodservice industry transforms using innovative cloud technologies, there is demand for a vertically focused business incubator that focuses exclusively on food tech solutions. In this technological era that we live in today, technology is evolving so rapidly that speed to the market is of the essence. In an effort to mitigate investment and related start up risk, AFTL will operate as an invitation only incubator designed to make Austin + AFTL the global center for food tech innovation. The natural byproduct will be to create jobs and contribute to the Austin and Texas economy.
Our focus is will be primarily food and restaurant technology solutions that solve real problems for both front of house (FOH) and back of house (BOH) application. However, food tech can be very broad and include kitchen tech, health tech and touch on production, distribution, safety, nutrition and processing. We intend to take small bites of the apple!
The founders of AFTL have decades of successful and relevant experience as serial entrepreneurs, food and tech brand and business builders, technology innovators and foodservice industry investors, restaurant operators, investors and executives.
